The first sneakers I cared about were the ’01 or ’02 black-and-gold patent Jordan 1s that they did. That was the first time I really wanted a pair of shoes.What was your first financially significant purchase?I remember buying the Penny Foamposites when I was in high school, which were $220 at the time, which was a shit-ton of money in ’07. I think I bought a pair of Red Monkeys back then, which were like $300, which was a lot. When we first started Round Two, I bought a pair of ’01 Royals that I spent $600 on, which is a huge thing. As far as clothes, I remember buying a Gucci Alessandro Michele flannel with the tiger on the back for $1,200 and thinking that was fucking wild and bugging out.

How do you continue to keep the shop fresh?The answer to both of those things is the community that we’ve built around the store, the social media, and just what we’re into. I don’t know if people appreciate my curation—I hope they do—but they also know that they can get the best prices for stuff with me, so they bring it in. My whole goal was to just get first dibs on everything when people try to get stuff out of their house, so I’m able to pick and choose what I curate. So many brick-and-mortars are boring right now, and I feel like there’s nowhere fun to shop, so I’m really trying to make it a place where people are excited to come back and see what we have.
