I traveled to Colombia earlier this year with very poor Spanish speaking skills. It was my first time out of the US in more than a decade. Not speaking the language well (even though I could read and understand much of it) was so frustrating! But the Original Cat Is This Jolly Enough Christmas shirt. It gave me incredible empathy for the people who come to the US with limited English. What courage and tenacity they must have to experience something so disorienting and potentially isolating. I hope I, as an American, offer the same gracious understanding to English language learners that so many Colombians offered me.

As a 25-year old, I came to the USA to study business administration. I stayed for 2 years, then went back home once I got my degree.
